1. Information we collect
Personal data through single sign-on: We use Sign in with Apple or Google. This process provides your name, email address, and authentication tokens. We also store any additional context you choose to share on your About Me page and let the analysis systems use it for more personalized recommendations.
Photo data and nutritional information: When you submit a photo, it is securely transmitted to our servers and forwarded to OpenAI’s APIs for analysis. Nutritional data from this analysis is stored on our backend and on your iOS device. Photos are retained on our server to enable future reanalysis with enhanced models. In the future, we may begin using Google’s APIs.
Health data: Nutritional data can be synced with Apple Health through HealthKit. Sleep data may be read, with your permission, for personal sleep-pattern analysis.
App usage and performance data: We collect non-identifying data to monitor app performance and investigate bugs. Render and Sentry support these functions.
Website analytics: Feast uses Google Analytics on feastapp.ai to understand page views, referral sources, sessions, and how visitors use the public website. The standard Google Analytics implementation can collect approximate location plus browser and device information, and can use first-party cookies such as _ga to distinguish visitors and sessions. Feast sends page paths without query strings or fragments, disables Google Signals and advertising-personalization signals, and does not intentionally send meal photos, nutrition records, Health data, account details, or the contents of coaching conversations to Google Analytics.
2. How we use your information
Personalization: To deliver nutritional insights, personalized recommendations, and challenges based on your logged meals and About Me data.
Service improvement: To improve app performance, resolve issues, understand which public website content is useful, and maintain the quality of Feast.
Future analysis: Stored photos may be reprocessed with improved models as they become available.
3. Data sharing and third-party services
OpenAI’s APIs: Your photos and relevant data are shared with OpenAI for analysis.
Google Analytics: Public website interaction data is sent to Google for audience and usage measurement. Google processes this information under its own terms and privacy documentation. You can limit cookies through your browser settings or use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Render: We use Render to host our backend and database. Data remains hosted in the United States, and administrative accounts enforce two-factor authentication without SMS fallback.
No sale of personal data: We do not sell or trade your personal information.
4. Data storage, retention, and security
Storage and retention: Data, including photos and nutritional details, is stored on Render servers. We do not enforce a fixed retention period. You may delete your account and linked data through the app settings at any time.
Security measures: Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Administrative access is protected with two-factor authentication. We rely on Render PostgreSQL’s security configuration.
5. Your rights
You may access, update, or delete your data through the app’s settings. Deleting your account removes associated information from our systems.
6. Children’s privacy
Feast is not directed to people under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If such data is collected inadvertently, we will promptly remove it.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy periodically. Significant changes will be reflected by a new effective date and, where necessary, notice through the app.
